Any.DO on Android

How do I add a task?

There are two ways to add a task - either by typing it or by voice. To type in your tasks simply press on the text box located on the top of the app and start typing. After you finish, press the add button. To use the voice feature simply press on the mic icon on the top left corner of the screen. Wait a few sec and start talking. After you finish talking press on the add button.

How do I edit a task?

Press on the task you want to edit for the 'quick edit' buttons. You can easily change the task's priority, folder, set a reminder, edit the notes, and share the task.

How do I add a sub-task/note to a task?

To add a note to a task, simply click on a task, then click on the "notes" button. From there, you can either enter sub-tasks/notes in the text box, or use the mic to speak your note.

How do I mark a task as complete?

Simply cross out a completed task by swiping over it with your finger from left to right.

How do I change back a task that has been marked complete?

Simply swipe your task from right to left to un-complete your task. If your task was in your "done" list, the task will return to the original folder in which it was stored.

How do I delete a task?

First, swipe your task from left to right to mark your task complete. To remove the task from the list and into the "done" list, press the "x" button on the right. To remove all completed tasks from the list, shake your device and you will be prompted to move all completed tasks to the "done" list.

How do I clear all of the tasks I've completed?

To clear all your tasks from the "done" list, just shake your device. You can also press the "clear all" button on the menu.

How do I backup and restore my tasks?

At any given point in time you can create a backup of all your tasks - simply click 'Menu' > 'More' > 'Backups' and click on 'Backup now' to create a new backup. In order to restore from a given backup click on it (this will erase your current state and get you back to the backed up state). The app will periodically backup your tasks automatically.

How do I sort my tasks?

You can sort your tasks manually by dragging and dropping them (notice you need to long press a task in order to start dragging).

Another option is to select a predefined sorting method: while on the main task screen press the 'menu' button, and then select how you want to sort your tasks (either by date, folder or priority).

How do I share or send one of my tasks to others?

Press on the task you wish to share and select the 'Share' button. In the sharing screen, invite your friends to share the task with you by inserting their names in the text box above and choosing them. If your friends are already using Any.DO your task will show up on their task list as a new shared task. If they are not yet using Any.DO you can invite them by sending the task via email or SMS (standard text messaging rates apply).

Note: You need to have your friend's E-mail on your device, under his contact information. This E-mail address must match the same one he use to log-in to Any.DO.

How do I sync Any.DO with my Google Tasks account?

On your phone's home screen simply press the 'Menu' button select 'Settings', 'Accounts & sync' then 'Add account'. Once you have set up a Google account with their Open Authentication (OAUTH) protocol you are able to select your account by opening Any.DO Press 'Menu' > 'More' > 'Accounts' and choose the account you wish to sync with.

How do I send a feature request?

We love getting your feedback. To send us feedback from within the app just press on the menu button and click on 'Feedback'. In addition you can always shoot us an email at android-feedback@any.do

How do I install the Any.DO widget?

To install the widget just press and hold on any empty space on your home screen (You'll need to hold for 2-3 seconds). You'll then notice the "Widgets" option. First, click on the widget menu and then click on the Any.DO icon (scroll down if you can't see it). That's it, you're done! Please note that the widget will only be available when the app is installed on internal memory.

How do I add a folder?

Click on a task, and then click the "folder" button. To add a folder, click "New Folder."

How do I edit a folder name?

To get to the folder selection screen, pick a task under a specific folder you want to change its name. Click the task and click on the "folder" icon. Then, choose the folder you would like to edit and long click it.

How do I delete a folder?

To delete a folder, click on a task, then click on the "folder" button. Press the grey "x" next to the folder you want to delete. You cannot delete or change your "Personal" folder.

How do I set a reminder?

Click on the task you want to set the reminder for. Underneath, you'll find the reminder icon. Click it, and then you will be able to set a reminder for a specific date and time, or a daily/weekly/monthly reminder.

How do I change or turn off a reminder?

Click on the task and on the quick edit bar click on the "Reminder" button. Then set the desired time of the alarm and its type (off, on time, 5 mins. before etc.). You can also change the recurrence of the task (Only once, once a day etc.)

How do I change the theme of the application?

Click on Settings, then click on more, and you will see the theme color selector. CLick on the color you wish to use.

What tasks go in the Upcoming and Someday sections?

The tasks that appear in the "Upcoming" section are tasks that contain a date other than today or tomorrow. These tasks will automatically move up to "Tomorrow" when 'tomorrow's' date has been reached. The tasks that appear in the "Someday" section are tasks that are not associated with a date.

How do I reset or change my password?

To reset or change your password, go into the log in page, select "forgot your password?" and enter the email address that is associated with the account you want to change the password to. We will send you an e-mail and follow the instructions to set your new password

Can I add a task from my e-mail?

Yes! Make sure you are signed in to Any.DO then open your email (using the same address you are signed in with). Email your tasks to do@any.do (the subject line would become the task and the email body will become the notes). Press Send & you're done!

Why doesn't voice search work?

If you are having problems adding tasks by voice, try installing Voice Search.

How can Any.DO help me get my tasks done?

With Any.DO you can call, text or e-mail your contacts directly from the app. Just start typing the name of your contact and a list of suitable contacts will display. Then select your desired contact. Any.DO will then give you options: Call John, Text John or E-mail John. Select a function to add the new task which will have a green icon on the right. One simple click and you can call, text or e-mail your contact!

Why can't I move Any.DO to the SD card?

The reason for that is the limitations apply on apps installed on the SD card by the Android operation system. One of those limitation is not being able to schedule alerts, which is a core feature for a successful To-Do list. We are working on a workaround for that problem, and we'll update all of our users as soon as we get this done.

Why do I get a "Something went wrong" message when I sync with Google Tasks?

The Google Tasks service has connection issues from time to time. If you get this message just try again after an hour or so. If the problem persists please let us know.

Why should I sign up with Any.DO?

By signing up to Any.DO you'll be able to type, swipe and shake away your to-dos from all of your devices. That includes your Android, iPhone and your Chrome browser. To be productive anywhere just sign in to Any.DO with the same user on each device.

Why should I log in using my Facebook account?

We allow you to use your Facebook account to identify yourself to our service. Doing so will save you the trouble of filling out the sign-up form, and will auto-sync your tasks with all your devices - Android, Chrome extension and iPhone. Your tasks are not linked to your Facebook account and we will not post anything on Facebook without your permission.

Why can't I see the new status-bar widget?

Our new widget for the status bar is currently available only for Android 4+ devices. We'll add support for older Android versions in the future.

Why is there an Any.DO gray icon on the notification bar?

On Android 4.0 devices, we cannot put our status-bar widget without putting an icon on the notification bar. On Android 4.1 we can avoid that, that's why there's no notification icon on Android 4.1 devices.

I don't want the status-bar widget, how do I remove it?

Removing the status-bar widget is easy. Just go to the Settings (3 dots on the right side of the status-bar widget) and set the "status-bar" option to "hide". The settings page is also accessible from Any.DO's menu.

Can I SMS from the Missed Call Feature?

Yes! Simply select "Send Text". From there you can select a prewritten text or write your own with the "Custom message" option. Standard SMS rates from your carrier apply.

How do I add a task?

There are two ways to add a task: by typing it or by voice. Pull down on the main screen to create a new task and start typing. Then press the "add" button. To enter by voice, pull down and hold then start talking. When you are finished speaking, tap the grey check mark on the right of the mic. Wait for your text to enter, and then press the "add" button.

How do I add a task directly to a folder?

Simply tap the "+" next to the folder in which you want to add a task. Start typing a task, or tap the microphone to enter your task by voice. After you finish tap the "add" button.

How do I edit a task?

Tap on a task then tap on the grey "edit" button to the right to edit the text. Tap on any button to easily change the task's priority, folder, set a reminder, create notes and share the task.

How do I mark a task as complete?

To add a note/sub-task to a task, simply tap on a task then tap on the "notes" button. Then either type in your notes, or tap the mic to enter your note by voice.

How do I edit notes?

To the right of each note is a grey "edit" button. Tap to edit the text of any note.

How do I complete and delete notes?

Completing and deleting a note is the same as a task! Simply swipe the note from left to right to mark a note as complete. To delete the note, tap on the grey "x" to the right of the completed note.

How do I backup and restore my tasks?

All your tasks are in the cloud! If you lose your phone, don't worry just sign into Any.DO and your task list will still be there!

How do I sort my tasks?

First, select a predefined sorting method: while on the main task screen, press the "menu" button at the bottom of the screen, and then select how you want to sort your tasks (either by date, folder or priority).

To move tasks around, tap and hold a task to drag it to any folder. In the portrait mode, you can drag and drop up and down the different lists. In landscape mode, you can view your tasks in the different modes on both sides of the screen. Tap either the folder or the clock to easily view all your tasks side by side in different settings. Easily drag and drop tasks on the right side of the screen, to different folders on the left side and to plan your calendar.

How do I share or send one of my tasks to others?

Tap on the task you wish to share and tap the "share" button. From there you can either share your task with friends, or post to Facebook and Twitter. When you tap share with friends, your contact list appears and you can share tasks with any of your friends! Or, type in an e-mail address of a contact with whom you want to share.

How do I add a folder?

There are two ways to add a folder. Tap on a task then tap the "folder" button, then tap "new." Or just tap the menu button at the bottom of the screen. Then tap the settings button on the bottom right. Tap "edit folders" and you can also add a new folder.

How do I edit a folder name?

Just like adding a folder, you can edit folders two ways. First, select a task then tap the "folder" button. To edit a folder name, long hold a folder, and your cursor will appear. Then edit the folder name. You can also go to your settings screen, tap "edit folders" and follow the same long hold procedure.

How do I delete a folder?

To delete a folder, select a task, then tap on the folder button. When the folder screen appears, tap the grey "x" next to the folder name. This will delete the folder, but all the tasks in that folder will be moved to the default "Personal" folder.

You can also delete folders by going to your settings, tap "edit folders" and delete folders the same way as mentioned above.

How do I set a reminder?

Tap on a task, then tap "reminder." Then set the date and time you want your reminder to alert. Unlike Android, this first version of Any.DO does not have recurring reminders, but we are working on this for a future version.

How do I give my iPhone access to my Contacts after initially selecting "Don't Allow"?

In your iPhone's settings, select "general" and scroll down to select "restrictions". Tap "Enable Restrictions" and enter a password if needed. From there, under "Privacy" select "Contacts" and switch Any.DO "On". This will give Any.DO access to your contacts.

How do I reset or change my password?

To reset or change your password, go into the log in page, select "forgot your password?" and enter the email address that is associated with the account you want to change the password to. We will send you an e-mail and follow the instructions to set your new password

With Any.DO you can call, text or e-mail your contacts directly from the app. All you have to do is type call, text, or e-mail then the name of a contact. There will be a green icon to the right of your task and one simple tap lets you to call, text or e-mail right there.

You can also just type the name of a contact, and Any.DO's auto-complete feature will provide you with the many options of connecting with your contact.

How Do I send a feature request?

Can I have multiple Any.DO accounts?

Absolutely! Any.DO can sync with your Facebook account, or you can create different accounts. Just go to settings, and tap "sign out" to sign in as a different user and pull up different task lists!

How do I add a task?

Click on the grey "+" sign next to a group, then type in your task and press enter or press the "+" button to the right.

How do I edit a task?

Simply click on a task and you can start editing! Press enter or click on your text to save the edit.

How do I add a sub-task/note to a task?

Click on a task and the task quick menu bar will appear. Click on "notes" and type in your text. Press enter to add another note.

How do I edit a note?

Click on a task then click on the notes button. Click on the note you want to edit and start editing. Press enter to confirm.

How do I mark a task/note as complete?

Simply click the grey check mark to the left of the task or note.

How do I change back a task/note that has been marked complete?

Simply click again on the grey check mark to the left of the task or note.

How do I delete a task?

After you have marked a task as complete, click on the "x" button to the right.

How do I delete all the tasks I’ve completed?

Simply click the trashcan at the top menu bar, and all your completed tasks will clear.

How do I sort my tasks?

You can sort your tasks manually by dragging and dropping them to rearrange their order or move to a different group.

You can also select a predefined sorting method; click an icon on the left of the top menu bar to view your tasks by date, folder or priority.

How do I add a folder?

Click on a task then click on the "folder" button. Click on "new folder," type in your folder name, and then press enter.

How do I delete a folder?

Click on a task then click on the "folder" button. Then click on the "x" button to the right of a folder. All tasks in that folder will be moved to the “Personal” folder. You cannot delete the "Personal" folder, as it is the default folder.

How do I set a reminder?

Click on a task then click on the reminder button. From there you can set a date, a time, and an alarm for your task. When finished click the "back" button.

How do I edit or turn off a reminder?

Simply click on the task and click on the reminder. Reset any alarm, date or time as you wish and click the "back" button. To turn off the alarm, make sure the alarm is set to "off."

Now with the Chrome Extension, getting tasks done is easier than ever! Your handheld device syncs with your Chrome Extension through our cloud server, so wherever you go your task list will be up to date!

With the Chrome Extension you can also right click on any web page, select the "Later" option and the current URL will be added to your list for later review. You can also select a portion of text and follow the same procedure to add that selection to your list.

Can Any.DO sync with multiple Google Tasks accounts?

Yes! Not only can you log in through Facebook, but also you can register and create different accounts. Simply click the settings button on the top menu bar and click "sign out" then sign in with a different account.
