Frequently Asked Questions

With Any.do you can call, text or e-mail your contacts directly from the app. Just start typing the name of your contact and a list of suitable contacts will display, then select your desired contact. Any.do will then give you options: Call John, Text John or E-mail John. Select a function to add a new task which will have a green icon on the right. One simple click and you can call, text or e-mail your contact!

To sign out, tap the three dots icon, press sync and then select sign out.

There are two ways to add a task - either by typing it or by voice. To type in your tasks, simply tap on the text box located at the top of the app and start typing. After you finish, tap the add icon. To use the voice feature, simply tap on the microphone icon in the top left corner of the screen, wait a few seconds and start talking. After you finish talking, tap the add icon. You can add tasks directly to a folder or to a day. This can be done by tapping the plus sign beside the desired day/folder.

Tapping on a task will open the quick edit options. These include the priority, search, reminder, notes and share buttons. To edit the text of the task, tap the pencil located at the far right of the task.

The search function allows you to search more information about the task directly from the app. For example if you type 'get a dog,' the search will do a google search for dogs.

We do not currently offer this feature. We are working on it for the future.

To add a note to a task, simply click on a task, then click on the "notes" button (it looks like a square). From there, you can either enter sub-tasks/notes in the text box, or use the mic to speak your note.

To delete a sub-task, swipe from left to right with your finger across the sub-task.

Simply cross out a completed task by swiping over it with your finger from left to right.

Simply swipe your task from right to left to un-complete your task. If your task was in your "done" list, the task will return to the original folder in which it was stored.

First, swipe your task from left to right to mark your task complete. To remove the task from the list and into the "done" list, press the "x" button on the right. To remove all completed tasks from the list, shake your device and you will be prompted to move all completed tasks to the "done" list.

Because shake to erase only works in portrait mode, sometimes when the phone is being shook, it switches to landscape mode. This can cause the shake to erase to not work. Try turning off the auto-rotate feature, then try shaking it again.

To clear all of your done tasks from the list, just shake your device.

This can be found under menu --> settings --> done tasks.

Click on the task you want to set the reminder for. Underneath, you'll find the reminder icon. Click it, and then you will be able to set a reminder for a specific date and time, or a daily/weekly/monthly reminder.

At the moment, the reminder tone is controlled by the profile on your phone. Therefore, if your phone is set to silent, it will turn off the Any.do reminders; however, if your phone is loud, there is no way to turn off just the any.do reminders. However, you can change the tone of the alarm under settings --> sound.

To set a recurring reminder, press the bell to open the reminder menu, select "just once" and options for recurring reminders will open.

This feature is called any.do moment. You can change the days and the time it reminds you by going into the any.do moment menu under settings. You can also disable it by pressing disable under the any.do moment menu.

Press a task, press the pencil to edit the task, press folder, press new. OR Press settings -->folders--> new folder

Press a task, press the pencil, press folder, then long press on the folder you want to change. From here, you can start editing. Alternatively, you can press settings, folders and long press on the folder to edit

Press a task, press the pencil, press folder, then press the x beside the folder you want to delete. Alternatively, you can press settings, folders and press x beside the folder you want to delete.

At any given point in time you can create a backup of all your tasks - simply click menu --> settings --> back up and click on 'Backup now' to create a new backup. In order to restore from a given backup click on it (this will erase your current state and get you back to the backed up state).

You can sort your tasks manually by dragging and dropping them you need to long press a task in order to start dragging).Another option is to select a predefined sorting method: while on the main task screen press the three dots, and then select how you want to sort your tasks (either by date or folder).

The tasks that appear in the "Upcoming" section are tasks that contain a date other than today or tomorrow. These tasks will automatically move up to "Tomorrow" when 'tomorrow's' date has been reached. If no date is set, they will move to tomorrow at the begining of the week. The tasks that appear in the "Someday" section are tasks that are not associated with a date.

We allow you to drag and drop your tasks into whatever order you want instead.

When you use the word buy in certain tasks, Any.do picks up on that. To make your life easier, we link you to Amazon. This way, you can complete your task directly from the app. Don't like this? Simply press the thumbs on the right side of the pop-up and press thumbs down.

Press the thumbs in the corner of the pop up and press the thumbs down. This will remove the suggestion.

Press on the task you wish to share and select the 'Share' button. In the sharing screen, invite your friends to share the task with you by inserting their names in the text box above and choosing them. If your friends are already using Any.do your task will show up on their task list as a new shared task. If they are not yet using Any.do you can invite them by sending the task via email or SMS (standard text messaging rates apply). Note: You need to have your friend's E-mail on your device, under their contact information. This E-mail address must match the same one he use to log-in to Any.do.

Create a grocery list "task" and then make the individual items on your list as notes/subtasks. Then, you can share this task and your entire list will be shared.

This feature is not currently supported.

At the moment, you only receive a notification when the task is completed by the other person. It doesn't actually mark it off on your task list.

To install the widget, just press and hold on any empty space on your home screen (You'll need to hold for 2-3 seconds). You'll then notice the "Widgets" option. First, click on the widget menu and then click on the Any.do icon (scroll down if you can't see it). That's it, you're done! Please note that the widget will only be available when the app is installed on internal memory.

Our new widget for the status bar is currently available only for Android 4+ devices. We will add support for older Android versions in the future.

On Android 4.0 devices, we cannot put our status-bar widget without putting an icon on the notification bar. On Android 4.1 we can avoid that, that's why there's no notification icon on Android 4.1 devices.

Removing the status-bar widget is easy. Just go to the Settings (3 dots on the right side of the status-bar widget) and set the "status-bar" option to "hide". The settings page is also accessible from Any.do's menu.

To sync with google tasks, go under menu --> sync and press google tasks and then log in. Make sure you press "allow access" when it asks for permission.

Google Tasks is a problematic service for syncing because it has not been maintained by google for a long time. Due to this, syncing with Google Tasks causes problems, many of which we can't fix from our side. We decided to keep allowing you to sync your tasks from Google Tasks in order to import your tasks to Any.do, but we encourage you to use our own sync system, which we have more control over and is more reliable. To start syncing with Any.do's sync service - sign up for a free Any.do account from the "Sync" menu on your device.

The Google Tasks service has connection issues from time to time. If you get this message just try again after an hour or so. If the problem persists, please let us know.

The sync button is actually not supposed to sync your tasks. It is to send you a link to downlaod the chrome extension. To force a sync, make sure you kill the app (delete it from the task manager) before checking it on the chrome extension. Same goes with the chrome app, make sure you close the broswer before checking it on any.do. This will ensure everything is synced!

The best way to force a sync is to kill your app. This can be done by deleting it from the task manager.

Click on the three dots, then click settings and you will see the theme color selector. Click on the color you wish to use.

Yes! Make sure you are signed in to Any.do then open your email (using the same address you are signed in with). Email your tasks to do@any.do (the subject line would become the task and the email body will become the notes). Press Send & you're done!

If you are having problems adding tasks by voice, try installing Voice Search.

The reason for this is that limitations apply to apps installed on the SD card by the Android operation system. One of those limitations is not being able to schedule alerts, which is a core feature for a successful To-Do list. We are working on a workaround for that problem, and we'll update all of our users as soon as we get this done.

You can find an "Import from Astrid" button under settings. Make sure you have Astrid installed and that all your tasks are available in Astrid before importing.

This feature is not currently supported.
